About UsThe Children’s Hospital Foundation is the charitable, tax-exempt organization benefiting The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Charitable support helps sustain vital programs that are not reimbursed through insurance, and funds patient care, research and clinical education. Last year, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia provided more than $43 million in uncompensated care. It spent another $74.4 million subsidizing medical education programs, four primary care centers in low-income Philadelphia neighborhoods, and costs not covered by Medicaid. The demand for the services offered by Children's Hospital continues to increase. The costs for research and care are also on the rise, while federal funding and Medicaid continue to decline. As a non-profit hospital, Children's Hospital needs the help and support of individuals and businesses to sustain the great work done here. Contributions help make a difference in the lives of children fighting illness and injury today, and invest in science that will prevent and better cure disease in the future. Gifts also help those families that cannot afford healthcare and are the primary support for many programs and services, such as Child Life and Palliative Care. The Foundation’s role Just as the Hospital overall is guided by the three-fold mission of patient care, research, and physician education, the Foundation has its own central principles. Its mission is to build the long-term fundraising capacity of The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia by establishing and nurturing long-standing donor relationships and thereby ensuring the Hospital’s financial security and supporting its growth. Foundation employees work with donors to keep them informed about the impact of their support. Staff members in the Foundation also work with other Children’s Hospital staff to identify important programs that need private support to function and then find individuals, businesses and foundations interested in funding those programs. Everything the Foundation does aims to ensure that donors’ intents are met; that they are kept informed about the Hospital they care about; and that they are confident in our work. |
